About
Fare
Deborah Bourke
Fare Italian Cookery school opened in Prahran 2008 with the addition of Mornington Peninsula location in 2011. Fare is inspired by a life immersed in Italian culture.
Deborah is a self confessed ‘Italophile’ and since childhood has been immersed in Italian culture and traditions through Italian families in her life.
Early memories include afternoon tea with neighbours, the table laid with an array of freshly baked goods. Madeira cake and biscotti were offered to accompany a cappucinno.
By the age of 8 years, dinner dances were a regular Saturday night affair. The children were encouraged to have an afternoon nap with the reward of ultimate freedom that evening. Generations of Italian families, young and old alike, would dine and dance until the early hours. The memories are vivid.
In recent years Deborah has lived in London working for ‘La Cucina Caldesi’ an Italian cookery school. There she worked along side Gennaro Contaldo, Ursula Ferrigno and Valentina Harris who share a fine appreciation and passion for all things Italian. Deborah has studied Italian language and culture along with Italian Cookery in Bologna.
Through family connections in Italy, Deborah has been fortunate to travel, shop, cook and feast her way through Italy. This culinary journey and the experience of cooking fresh, regional dishes at cookery schools in both London and Italy have been the inspiration of Fare Italian Cookery School.
Deborah believes a passion for Italian food can bring people together regardless of their cooking ability.
Experience the simplicity of Italian cooking in a warm and friendly environment.
